Nourish Mom (Giveaway)

If you were to win the lottery, what would be one thing that you would do with the money to make your life easier?

I’ve always said that I’d hire a personal chef. To have someone do the grocery shopping for me – who would select nutritious ingredients and create delicious meals to satisfy my cravings and feed my family of picky eaters on a regular basis would be a dream come true for me.

Well last Friday my dream did come true – and I didn’t have to win the lottery for it to happen!

Recognizing that many moms (new and experienced) have a tendency to overextend themselves for their families – forgetting to take care of themselves, Sydney Badger of Sydney Badger Cuisine created Nourish Mom – a full-service personal chef program focused on nourishing moms and their families with healthy, personalized, delicious meals.

I had the pleasure of having Sydney visit my home, where she cooked nutritious, personalized meals for my family, and I enjoyed her full-service personal chef experience! Here’s how it all went down.

The Nourish Mom Process

Customized Menu Selections – The process began with my filling out a short questionnaire about my family’s dietary needs, food preferences, and eating habits. This was used to create customized menu options catered to my family’s picky palates.

This was followed by the presentation of 10 different menu selections, of which I was to pick 5. This was no easy task as each option sounded equally as decadent – I wanted to try them all!

One of my favourite meals – pesto and prosciutto wrapped salmon & pea, parsley and spinach risotto

The Best Ingredients – Once I made my menu selections, I was to fill out a checklist of ingredients, as Sydney wanted to ensure that she didn’t buy anything that I already had in my cupboards (a great money-saver for me!).

Then Sydney sourced out the best, and most cost-effective ingredients – visiting a range of grocery stores and farmer’s markets. She picked up everything and delivered the groceries right to my house!

Fridge Filled With Delicious, Healthy Meals – Sydney arrived with everything she needed (ingredients, dishes, small appliances) and went straight to work.  While she blended, and stewed, and chopped away, she offered for me to continue on with my day as I normally would – work, run errands, do chores, and most importantly, relax. She made me a healthy cup of tea (chopped ginger, sliced limes, honey and boiling water – so delicious!), and cooked away – her passion for cuisine impalpable. I couldn’t help but chat with her as she worked, and received some great tips on how to reuse some of the leftover ingredients, and heard some great stories about her travelling adventures.

Full-Service Experience – Once she had finished cooking (5 hours of hard work!), she cleaned up my kitchen, and left me with a comprehensive list of the meals she had made – including the order in which to eat them, how to re-heat and serve each item, and how I could re-work some of the leftovers into new meals.

  1. Oh, I could answer that with a million things! I think the biggest benefit would be that I would be providing my family of four (soon to be five!) with healthy, home-cooked, creative meals while still having time and energy to do the other things I think are important as a mom!

  2. OMG I have a 3 year old and a 5 month old and I would LOVE a personal chef!! I cook for my family everyday and it is so much work. Just last week I told my partner that I just want ONE week where I don’t have to cook. This would be AMAZING!

  3. My little family would so benefit from this! I’m finding it a real struggle to come up with creative and varying meals as I’m now working more than I have since having children. I need help!!

  4. I think I would benefit from a personal chef experience simply because it’ll give our family a chance to have a delicious and healthy meal. It’ll also allow me to spend more time with my kids.

  5. Michelle Muller says:

What a wonderful prize! I have such a struggle coming up with new and nutritious meal ideas for my picky 6 year old son so this would be amazing!

  6. I would benefit from this because I HATE to cook! If I didn’t have kids I would eat cereal every night. That said, I love good food and if I could learn some easy recipes that both me and my kids love that would be awesome! Crossing all my fingers and toes to win this one…

  7. This family would love to learn how to nourish ourselves in a easier and healthier way.

  8. OMG I am 36 weeks pregnant with #2 at the moment and the thought of having somebody come to my home to do this for my family is just so exciting! Crossing my fingers, would love to try out her services!

    Thanks for the chance!

  9. This sounds like a fantastic experience. I so need help with ideas when it comes to dinner for the fam. I would love someone to come to my home and help me out. What a great idea!

  10. This is my #1 wish would happen right now! I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 16 month old and barely have time to feed myself these days let alone fix nice meal for my family. I find it so daunting to try and find different things to feed them 3 times a day 7 days a week. HELP ME! lol….

  11. There are lots of things I would love to learn to cook (or watch someone cook) but I’m nervous to try on my own b/c if I ruin it, it’s a waste of money.

  12. More variety with healthier choices:)

  13. I’d really benefit from learning how to meal plan!

  14. This would be perfect for me. Right now my repertoire is pasta, veggie dogs, pizza and sushi takeout. I have no time or desire to cook but would like my family to eat healthy. A personal chef would be a dream.

  15. I would LOVE this, I feel like if I had one week to get caught up on life, the rest of it would run a lot smoother. This would allow me to do just that. Ahhhhh just thinking about it makes me smile.

  16. I would love to win this because although I love baking, making dinners is not my thing. Healthy meals ready when I get home from work for the win!

  17. Would love this!! Between working full time, raising two kids and going back to school, there is little time to cook creative meals! This would be a live saver right now!!

  18. This would be a dream a come true!! I have two kids, commute door to door (round trip) 3 hours a day, my husband has been working some nights and I had to put some long days and work some weekends. Needless to say there is not enough hours in the day to get everything done and I am exhausted. My kids also don’t seem to like anything that we feed them except yogurt drinks (They are 2 and 4). To have healthy fod prepared would be like winning the lottery to me :-)!!! Thanks for an amazing contest.

  19. I would benefit from a personal chef experience so much! It would help me focus on proper choices for my family in my busy soon to be back to work schedule after maternity leave.

  20. Ack! Three kids in numerous activities, and busy job…need I say more?

  21. I have such a hard time planning meals – this would be amazing…

  22. Wow. That’s too awesome.

  23. Arjun Rudra says:

It would save my family a lot of time, that could be better used to do stuff together.

  24. I would LOVE to win this! Like so many other moms I always find it a struggle to figure out dinners that my kids will eat let alone just getting food on the table. I have two little girls and a travelling husband … and I seemed to lose the little interest I had in cooking when I was pregnant and so far, it hasn’t come back. Someone to cook for us for a week sounds like a dream. This is such a great idea!

  25. What an amazing idea! I’ve been thinking about meal planning. What a challenge it is to have healthy meals and the right food in the house to make it. It sounds like it should be so simple, but it’s such a challenge to pick appropriate food that everyone likes and have it on the table at supper time.

  26. I’m so busy these days, and I wish I could do a better job with meal planning and prep for my family. This would be an incredible treat for us, plus an inspiration for me in my own culinary efforts! Fingers and toes all crossed!
